2008 – Christmas Joy
Thanks to YOUR heart of gold – Spreading Joy Corporation was able to distribute 770 toys for Christmas!
Harbor Baptist Church - the children were still able to receive 4 gifts for Christmas because the members provided 3 dollar store gifts! The children were so excited and happy to receive their gifts! Not only did they receive the gifts - they learned that there are wonderful people in this great big world that care about THEM! That single gift alone may have a life time of lasting effects.
Even though the church lost their auditorium and educational facilities to a fire in May 2008, they are still doing everything they can to show these children that there is hope in Charlotte. When diesel prices were well over $4.00 a gallon, they continued to pick up the children to minister to them spiritually as well as physically by providing some sort of food item each week. Food items are generally a box of cereal bars or pack of crackers (the entire 8 pack, not just one pack out of the package.) With your help, SJC was able to gie gifts to around 600 inner city children.
The members of the church also provided each child with a McDonald’s Cheeseburger and package of McNuggets along with a drink and candy. Even the teens received age appropriate gifts.
Just several weeks ago, I thought that we needed to have a gift of somekind for the Adults that come in with the children. This was made possible by many of our online friends! Thank you for how you came through at the last minute. We were able to provide 60 gift bags for these adults.
I wish I could have had each of you there to see the smiles and hear the “Thank you’s”! It is life changing to be a part of something so wonderful. These children were excited about their gifts – without knowing what each gift was.
The excitement, the joy and the thrill of Christmas was everywhere! The children as well as adults are excited about Christmas!
Your love for giving and Spreading Joy helped to bring Christmas Joy to these wonderful children! You have made a difference in the life of these kids!
Everyone was included – even the adults! Isn’t it great what can be accomplished when we all pull our “little bit” together? It ends up being HUGE! The smiles, the laughter the love that is felt is joy beyond compare!
